Bow Wow, formerly known as Lil’ Bow Wow, formerly known as Shad Gregory Moss is a rapper, actor and music producer. He was born in Reynoldsburg a Columbus suburb in Ohio on March 9, 1987.
His rap career started at age five, when known as “Kid Gangsta”. The moniker Lil’ Bow Wow was given to him by rapper Dr. Dre the following year when he performed at a Chronic tour, alongside Snoop Dogg. He was later hired by Dr. Dre to open for him which made him an instant member of the Death Row Records family. He also appeared in Snoop Dog’s Doggystyle and on one of his videos for “Gin and Juice”.
He released his debut album, Beware of Dog when he was just 13. It eventually sold nearly two and a half million copies. His second album, Doggy Bag went certified double platinum, and was released in 2001. Unleashed, his third album was released with the new name; simply Bow Wow, achieved gold record status. Other albums were released, Wanted in 2005 and The Price of Fame in 2006 both went platinum.
He is probably better known for the films he has been in including Like Mike, All About the Benjamins, Johnson Family Vacation, and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. He has appeared on television’s Brandy, Moesha, The Steve Harvey Show and Ugly Betty.
