Gisele Caroline Nonnenmacher Bündchen is the highest paid model in the world. She was born in Hozizontina, on the Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil on July 20, 1980.
Gisele joined her sisters in a modeling course when she was 13 years old but was officially discovered in Sao Paulo on a school trip the following year. She entered Brazil’s Elite Look of the Year contest and came in second and placed fourth in the world competition. In 1996, Bündchen moved to New York to model and her first job was at Fashion Week. She got her first Vogue cover in the July 1999 edition and was back on again in both November and December of that year. Vogue also had her on the covers of three consecutive editions – a rare occurrence. She has also graced the covers of Rolling Stone, Harper’s Bazaar, ELLE, Arena, GQ, Esquire and Marie Claire.
Bündchen is the face of many products including some of fashion’s most iconic names including Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, Missoni, Versace, Giverchy, Valentino and Victoria’s Secret. She has a giant endorsement deal with Apple Computers and has her own line of sandals and flip flops that sell for up to $200 a pair. In 2007, she earned a record $33 million.
