The Jonas Brothers are an all American boy band, made up of three brothers, Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas, from Wyckoff, New Jersey.
Originally started as a solo project for brother Nicholas, he was discovered singing in a local barber shop at age 6 and was introduced to a show business manager. The following year, Nicholas made his debut on Broadway and has been cast in several productions including The Sound of Music, Beauty and the Beast and Annie Get Your Gun and A Christmas Carol.
In 2002, he wrote his first song entitled, “Joy to the World (A Christmas Prayer)” that was recorded and released on Christian radio. Nicholas was eventually signed to INO Records (distributed by Columbia Records) and they released his first single “Dear God”. They subsequently released a reworked version of “Joy to the World (A Christmas Prayer)”. The full length album got a limited release.
In 2005, Daylight/Columbia records decided to sign all three of the brothers as a group act and the Jonas Brothers were born. That year, the group went on several tours with big names such as Kelly Clarkson and the Backstreet Boys. Their first album, It’s About Time was finally released in August of 2006 after their first single, “Mandy” was released the December prior. Their work was also featured on the Aquamarine soundtrack, Cartoon Network and on the DisneyMania 4 album. The band was dropped by Columbia Records in early 2007.
The band signed with Disney’s Hollywood Records in February 2007 and released their self-titled album in August of that year. They also appeared on various television shows including, Hannah Montana, Miss Teen USA and the closing ceremonies of the Disney Channel Games.
In 2008, the Jonas Brothers filmed Camp Rock for the Disney Channel in which they play a band called “Connect Three”. The film will air on the Disney Channel. They also plan a tour in 2008.
