Celebs Smack Melanoma

There are two guaranteed ways to get your hand in a celebrities. Dazzle ‘em with a show and feed ‘em. Or let ‘em play golf. Especially if another celebrity has their name on the event.

Next week, Halle Berry has her inaugural tournament supporting victims of domestic violence. Samuel Jackson has one for African children.

Yesterday, Joe Pesci lent his name to the 5th Annual Hack n’ Smack Celebrity Golf Classic supporting Melanoma Research Foundation. The event was founded for another performer, Kerry Daveline, who lost his fight with the disease in 2003.

Other celebs hacking n’ smacking for the cause included Joe Mantegna, Christopher Gorham, and Dennis Haysbert.

Although melanoma is the fastest rising cancer in the U.S., it receives the least amount of federal funds for its research. It is also the most highly preventable, and treatable if caught early. More information is available at melanoma.org.
