Poor Nicole Kidman. The star and UN Goodwill Ambassador held a press conference at the UN in New York City on Tuesday to bring attention to UNIFEM. The fund was established to foster women’s empowerment and gender equality around the world.
Her conference was held on the same day that the UN hosted a panel of gender experts who discussed how to prevent globalization from further disenfranchising women and expanding the gap between rich and poor.
Kind of dry, huh? But important stuff. And who steals the limelight? Naomi Campbell, the poster girl for the entitlement of the wealthy. A woman who allegedly throws electronics at the help and spits on peace officers. She just popped into the United Nations building on a whim. Maybe she thought “UN” were the initials of a hot new designer of colorful flags.
Is this all part of a plan to scrape the tarnish off of Campbell’s tarnished image? She was recently photographed laughing and joking with the Heathrow Airport security guards she upon whom she reportedly expectorated. Now, she shows up at an organization dedicated to world peace.
Perhaps she was there to offer her services as ambassador, too. After all, in some countries spitting is a gesture of goodwill.
