You gotta love Hillary Clinton. The lady is made of steel. Every day, more “super-delegates” put a tick mark in Barack Obama’s column. Leading democrats call for her to give up the race. She owes $21 million in campaign debt. Pundits say she’s going down in flames. Little old ladies kick her in the shins.
Okay, that last part isn’t true. But it might as well be. Everyone in the world seems to be ganging up on poor Hillary.
Everyone, that is, except for voters in West Virginia. The distinguished gentlewoman from New York soundly trounced him in Tuesday’s primary. Her confidence now renewed, her campaign believes she can beat Obama in the popular vote in the remaining five states.
So the question is, is Hillary Clinton determined or delusional? Every expert says that the “math” is against her. There’s no way for her ever to catch up.
Maybe she’s been reading ‘The Secret.’ She’s going to become President of the United States through sheer will. There’s nothing else to cling to.
Except that she’s been down before. Not just in the race with Obama. There was Bill’s infidelity. The failure of universal health care when she was First Lady. All of those horrible hairdos.
Then you look at John McCain, counted out less than a year ago, and he wins the Republican nom.
So maybe Hillary is onto something. Perhaps in her world, the super-delegates will change their minds, she’ll pay off the debt, dems will fall into place behind her, and the math will work out.
I wonder what color the sky is there.
