Teen Choice: Red Carpet Rehash

What’s the point of having a red carpet if no one is going to dress up? If I want to see a bunch of guys in t-shirts and tattoos, I’ll volunteer at the county jail.

I guess the Jonas Brothers earned their Red Carpet Icon award by default as the few who bothered to put on a jacket or tie. Zac Efron was nice enough to toss on a vest, but in his work shirt and dirty jeans, Josh Duhamel looked like he’d just come from his day job working construction.

Best Villain winner Ed Westwick also took the casual thing to the extreme. Chuck looked as if he’d just come from a bedroom romp with Blair -- or perhaps those nasty rumors about a romance with costar Chace Crawford are true. Both boys were sporting the same post-coital tousle. And Westwick’s dainty little neck scarf certainly won’t quell any of that alternative lifestyle talk.

The women, on the other hand, couldn’t quite make up their minds. At the low end was host Miley Cyrus, who sported a cowgirl theme in a flowsy minidress and boots. (Didn’t I see that on Jessica Simpson a couple of years ago?) Then there was Blake Lively, who kicked it up a notch with a beautiful off-the-shoulder purple number that New York & Company is sure to be knocking off as I write this.

Also opting for cocktail chic was Phoebe (Why Is She Famous?) Price, surgically enhanced assets characteristically bare. Although that black eyeliner and too-white base made her look even scarier than normal. Maybe she’s angling for the role of a young, flame-haired Morticia Addams.

The women who really deserve kudos, though, are the ones who went all out with some lovely floor-length afternoon numbers. Lauren Conrad was in full Earth Mother mode with a hippie print strapless gown and flowing hair. All that was missing was a daisy-chain crown. Hayden Panettiere combined hippie chic with ancient Greece, in what looked like a pink tie-dyed toga.

But red carpet winner hands-down was Fergie, a bright orange and pink sheath skimming her lady humps. She might have been the oldest gal at TC08, but no one could touch her glam for glam.
