After hitting arguably the lowest point in a valley of low points, Britney Spears may have a chance to redeem herself at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
“Piece of Me” has been nominated for Video of the Year, along with the Jonas Brothers/”Burnin’ Up,” Chris Brown/”Forever,” the Pussycat Dolls/”When I Grow Up,” and The Ting Tings/”Shut Up and Let Me Go.”
Interestingly, neither “Piece of Me” or its album “Blackout” were big hits, and like you need to be reminded, Spears’ performance at last year’s VMAs was perhaps her most embarrassing moment ever.
Or was it?
There was the impulsive marriage to Jason Allen Alexander. The reality series with Kevin Federline. The baby dropping thing. The driving with the baby in her lap thing. The head shaving thing. A lot of that could have been chalked up to youth and inexperience.
Then there was the no underwear thing. That was just kind of nasty. Then, oops, she did it again, which was even nastier. That’s not youthful exuberance. That’s what happens when momma doesn’t raise you right.
Fortunately, Daddy and the court system is picking up where momma failed, and Britney seems poised to rise from the pile of Marlboro Light ashes that has been her life up to this point. Here’s hoping it works out.
Also receiving noms on Friday were Paramore, Fall Out Boy, Slipknot, Linkin Park, and Foo Fighters.
