The Business Of Being Born

With two high-profile births taking place this weekend - Nicole Richie to a girl on Friday and Christina Aguilera to a boy on Saturday - there couldn't have been a better time for Ricki Lake to give a promotional push for her new documentary "The Business of Being Born."

"Can you believe it? It feels like the stars have come together," remarked the actress and former talk show host-turned-producer who looked remarkably trim in her black Gucci dress during the film's Los Angeles premiere on Monday.

Prior to the screening, Lake said that the making of the documentary - which extols the virtues of natural childbirth - was "like giving birth to a third child ... It's not just a movie to me, it's a movement. I feel like women need to be empowered and educated to have a transformative positive birth experiences."

Plenty of Lake's friends turned out including Cindy Crawford, Deborah Gibson, Camryn Manheim, Cheri Oteri, Carrie-Anne Moss, Amber Tamblyn, Holly Robinson-Peete and pregnant stars Angela Kinsley and Brooke Burke.

With all of the recent baby news, we asked a few of them if they had any advice for Nicole and Christina.

"I don't give advice to mothers," said Manheim who quickly added, "We all come from different backgrounds and we all have different hopes for our children. I learned just to observe and to learn and to take the things that I see about great parent and to incorporate them into my own life."

Deborah Gibson, who doesn't have kids, declined to give advice but was more than happy to share her thoughts on the new celebrity moms. "They both seem like they're in solid relationships and a great place in their careers, so it all seems really ideal," she says. "They both seem ready for it. So I just wish them well."

And so do we.
