Katherine Ann Moss was born in Addiscombe England on January 16, 1974. She is the supermodel known as Kate Moss.
She was discovered in New York at JFK Airport returning home from a Bahamian holiday when she was 14 years old. Her first shoot
was for the British magazine, The Face, a year later. Her waif-like looks made her much different than the reigning supermodels of the 1990’s like Claudia Schiffer and Cindy Crawford.
Moss has graced over 300 magazine covers, including appearing on the cover of British Vogue 24 times, and has done campaigns for a veritable who’s who in the fashion world, including: Gucci, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Chanel and Burberry.
Moss has been criticized over the years as being emblematic of the emaciated model look and hard-living lifestyle which includes a very famous addition to cocaine and the ensuing scandal.
She has continued to work as a model and style icon. She has signed lucrative deals with both Rimmel London cosmetics and Nikon Cameras. In 2008 she has been signed as the face of Donna Karan, Yves Saint-Laurent and Roberto Cavalli. She has also signed on as a fashion designer for Britain’s TopShop.
She is the second highest paid model behind Gisele Bundchen.
