Katherine Heigl Planning Izzie-ectomy?

There go those close, unnamed sources again. Rumor has it that Katherine Heigl plans to leave ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ when her contract is up. That’s a bummer if it’s true. I really like her.

Of course, not everyone does. She’s gotten a bad rap for her Oscar snafu, for correcting an Emmy reporter about mispronouncing her name, and for smoking too much. She complained publicly about misogyny in ‘Knocked Up, the vehicle that established her box office mojo.

She even had the nerve to demand the same salary as Ellen Pompeo, whose lead in ‘Grey’s’ Heigl supposedly supports. (Truth be told, all of the supporting actors are better than Pompeo. Heigl, Sandra Oh, and Chandra Wilson make that show.) Pundits say that Heigl’s missteps could hurt her burgeoning movie career.

I disagree. I love that she says and does what she wants. She stuck up for her friend T.R. Knight. She’s honest about her relationship with her mom. And she stuck up for herself when it came to getting what she deserves. These “missteps” are exactly what makes her likable.

So, yes, Heigl’s alleged plans to leave bum me out. The only good news is that she’s locked into her contract for the next few years. At least, Izzie and I can make the most of the time we have left together.
